As General Manager of Mobile Advertising at Microsoft, Charles Johnson manages the overall Mobile Advertising division P&L and is responsible for developing the Mobile Advertising and partner syndication strategy. He works directly with the Mobile Advertising research and development team to develop product requirements for a variety of customers, including advertisers, publishers, mobile carriers and device makers. Johnson also leads development of a comprehensive Microsoft Mobile Advertising monetization strategy, thought leadership initiatives, trade marketing and sales execution in concert with Sales, Marketing and the Consumer & Online teams.
Since joining Microsoft in 2002, Johnson has led the execution of Microsoft’s global manufacturing strategy including the prioritization of industry solutions and their alignment to Microsoft’s worldwide partner ecosystem. As general manager of Microsoft’s manufacturing and resources sector, Johnson managed a team of manufacturing industry experts within the Enterprise Partner Group, responsible for defining Microsoft-based solutions to meet the needs of enterprise customers.
Prior to joining Microsoft, Johnson held various e-Commerce and New Product Marketing leadership roles with such companies as SeeBeyond and General Electric. His extensive professional background also includes significant experience developing and launching Convenience and “On the Go” consumer products for advertisers such as Procter & Gamble, Coca-Cola and YUM Brands.
Johnson earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the United States Military Academy, West Point. He is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha. Johnson lives in the Puget Sound area with his wife, two daughters and a son. He enjoys golfing, physical fitness, and supporting his children’s sporting activities.
